خلاصه مقاله:
Development of civilization has lead to the rapid urbanization of hill stations throughout the globe. Himalayan region is understood by almost all researchers in earthquake engineering because of high level of seismicity. Buildings constructed in these regions, having very steep slopes, are unsymmetrical and torsionally very sensitive. In this paper a case study of such type of building has been considered. In this study a model of such type of building has been generated and analyzed for dynamic characteristic parameters using ANSYS. Results shows that the structure is affected by the torsional mode of vibration most critically and which are undesirable for concrete type of structures. The study also reveals the importance of designing this type of structure against torsion. As this type of structure is very typical in nature from structural point of view solution from one model is not sufficient and requires to be validated. In this respect the results have been verified through dynamic modeling using ABAQUS and STAAD Pro 2007. An extension of this study will include findings of all dynamic features of this type of structures for correct aseismic design and monitoring of structures in hilly regions.
