Undoubtedly, the oil industry is one of the mostimportant industries in our country. So, researching and findingsolutions to promote this industry is vital and important. Ourancestors used to exploit oil wells at shallower depths, but today,due to the expansion of societies and humanity's greater need for oiland gas resources, exploration and extraction must be done fromdeeper depths and from more difficult areas than in the past. Atpresent, with the development of new technology in the drillingindustry and the use of new technologies in this field, we arewitnessing the use of science from other engineering fields in thisindustry in the new era. Meanwhile, directional drilling as animportant and leading specialty in this field of other techniques inthe drilling industry is of special importance. Paying attention to thisprofession in order to exploit complex reservoirs andunconventional drilling in order to reduce costs and access huge oilresources is easier than other methods. Directional drillingtechnique has been used for many years to access subsurfaceresources that are vertical in inaccessible or difficult to drilllocations. The first step in directional drilling is well design, whichis used as well path design. Although drilling is a three-dimensionaloperation, most wells are designed in two dimensions, especially inthe early stages of design, but in some cases the situation is suchthat designers are forced to design three-dimensional equations.In this article, directional drilling is evaluated and its applicationsare presented. According to this research, it can be seen that thismethod has many advantages in special drilling conditions. Forexample, for most offshore drilling, it is better to use directionaldrilling, which is more economically viable, instead of using costlyoffshore rigs.
