COMPOSITE ACTION BETWEEN HEAVY WALL AND TIE BEAM

in retrofitting projects it is common practice in iran to strengthen beams under heavy masonry walls when designed in accordance with irans loading code however if stiffness of the wall and arching action produced in the masonry wall is taken into account there would be no need for retrofit of such beams . in this paper several FEM analyses are conducted on infilled frames under self weight to investigate the composite action between wall and the frame.
