Application of information technology to improve the performance of nurses

Abstract:

Because the highest percentage of the medical staff consists of nurses and also the high workload and workload imposed on them, the probability of errors in their performance increases and, as a result, a large number of patients to service centers and treatment centers. There are injuries. With the use of information technology and its many applications, many attacks on nurses can be reduced. Therefore, researchers sought to study the existing articles related to information technology in this field to improve nurses' performance in care and treatment centers. Methods: This is applied research with a review method that was conducted in November 2020. This research firstsearches for the keywords Reduce, treatment, nurse, error without restriction and also the keywords Information technology, nurse, reduce, error, mortality by creating associated data and randomized controlled trial restrictions and age group over 18 years and time limit 2019 and 2020 was done in the Pubmed search engine. First, the articleswith related titles were selected. The abstracts of the studied articles were read, and finally, the information contained in all related articles was studied, extracted, and entered into the checklist. Results: Out of the 48 articles found, 7 of them were selected for this study. Among them, 75% of articles were published after 2017, 37.5% of articles were published in the Americas, 25% in Asia, and 25% in Europe. 75% of the researches was performed in the hospital environment. The total number of samples is more than 1390 people. In 40% of the data, increasing immunity, and reducing mortality in patients have been reported. Other benefits of using information technology include increasing the privacy and confidentiality of patients' medication information. In 25 articles, increasing individuals' learning power by emphasizing the impossibility of a complete replacement instead of educational models is mentioned. Conclusion: The shortage of current staff in medical centers can be eliminated using information technology. Using it can also save nurses' work, which led to a reduction in human error and increased patient safety, followed by a reduction in mortality.
