Abstract:

The use of technology in healthcare services is widespread, and most nurses use telenursing for people with complex health problems. However, the rapid advancement of information technology has created many challenges for telenursing, and it seems necessary to pay attention to these challenges to avoid problems. Methods: This research is a review study that was conducted in 2020. First, research-related resources were searched in Google Scholar, PubMed, and SID without a time limit and using the keywords nurses, Telenursing, Telehealth, and Challenge. The resource was searched in July 2020. Inclusion criteria were free to access to articles and the language of publication in Persian or English. Duplicate titles were also removed using Endnote software. Results: After studying the titles and abstracts of articles, 33 articles were reviewed, and finally, eight articles were included in the study. A review of related articles showed that the challenges of using telenursing are in three areas related to government, nurses as service providers, and patients as service recipients. Challenges in the area of government include system infrastructure and financial investment (3 studies), Internet availability (2 studies), privacy and security (1 study), and culture-building (2 studies). Challenges related to nurses include professional skills (5 studies), communication skills (3 studies), access to education (3 studies), and conflict (1 study). Challenges for patients include education (3 studies), interaction with the service provider (2 studies), and technology acceptance (2 studies).Concolusion: There are many factors as challenges in the use of telenursing, the most important of which are the professional skills of nurses and in the next stage the existence of system infrastructure and financial investment, communication skills, and training that to achieve the desired results should be prioritized.
