Abstract:

Introduction: Electronic medical records have a significant effect on protecting the privacy and personal rights of patients in improving the safety, efficiency, and quality of care. Health care delivery's effectiveness depends on the day-to-day performance and communication of physicians, nurses, and medical assistants. Our goal was to examine the level of acceptance of electronic medical records by nurses and understand its perspective. Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical study that was conducted in 1398 in Bandar Abbas. The target population is all nurses working in Bandar Abbas hospitals selected by simple random sampling. The study tool is a researcher-made questionnaire that contains 25 questions in two parts. The first part contains seven questions of demographic information, and the second part contains 18 questions that measure the quality of the system through performance, equipment performance, interaction, and user interface. The questionnaire's validity was determined by the content validity method and its reliability was determined by Cronbach's alpha method of 0.95. A five-point Likert scale was used to design the questionnaire. Based on the nurses' opinions, the factors affecting the acceptance and use of computer systems are classified and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The test used is the Spearman correlation test and Shapiro-Wilk statistical test. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 21.Results: The findings indicate a happy and positive relationship between perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, which leads to a positive effect on nurses' admission. Nurses in clinical affairs are willing to use medical records to improve the quality of patient care. Therefore, their desire to learn the system and less resistance to change is possible by introducing a more user-friendly system, which ultimately increases their acceptance level. 84% agreed, and 15% strongly agreed that the medical records system should be integrated into daily work, while (1%) were neutral. Conclusion: The use of medical records positively affects the acceptance of nurses, and nurses tend to learn, and if properly trained and supported by the health care organization, they will be less resistant to change. User demographics, top management, IT support, and system quality are essential in predicting nurses' admissions to medical records. These findings can be used as a guide for hospital management to address nurses' concerns.
