In Facility layout problem (FLP) is an optimization problem that seeks to specify the layout of facilities usually considering the material handling cost as the main objective function. In this research, a mixed integer nonlinear programing (MINLP) model for the single-floor facility layout problem is developed. The model, unlike the current literature, tend to maximize accessibility to units as a maintenance related objective. It is assumed that some facilities may have emergency aintenance requirements for which easy access from the entrance edges with possible human transportation systems is necessary. A new formulation approach is developed to incorporate accessibility in to the FLP model.
