Abstract:
Multicomponent reaction (MCRs) is an emerging tool for the designing and developing new approach for the preparation of various bioactive heterocyclic compounds.1 Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds such as pyrroles are present in various biologically active alkaloids 2 and natural products 3 that show significant biological activities such as anti-cancer, antifungal, antiviral, antimicrobial, antitumor activities.4 Herein, we report the synthesis of new tetrahydrospiropyrrole 4 from the multicomponent reaction of malononitrile 1, α-diketones 2 and N-aryl methanesulfonamide 3 in the presence of K2CO3 as base (Fig.1). The structure of the synthesized compounds 4 were determined on the basis of their mass spectra, 1H and 13C-NMR and IR spectra data.
