Abstract:
Metallophthalocyanines (MPcs) are effective oxidation catalysts having high activity, rather cheap and facile preparation in a large scale, and chemical and thermal stability. Recently, many efforts have been focused on the preparation of novel catalytic methods using MPc. Fe(II)-Pc derivatives have been employed as the catalysts in the oxidation of various substrates such as methane,1 cyclohexane,2 cyclohexene,3 and aromatic pollutant. Fe(II)-porphyrin as a structurally related compound to Fe(II)-Pc oxidaized alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes and ketones. In continues of our interest in developing the useful catalytic systems for oxidation of organic compounds,4-6 phthalocyanines of Fe(II) was immobilized on chitosan aerogel via chemical binding. The catalytic activity of the composite was examined in the oxidation of alcohols. The oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones was carried out with high yields and excellent selectivities.
