D-penicillamine functionalized Nano fibrous mesoporous silica and its application for the removal of heavy metal Pb2+ from the aqueous solution

Abstract:

In this work, d-penicillamine-modified dendritic Fibrous Nanosilica grafted by amine groups (dPA-DFNS-NH2) with specific surface area of 358 m2g-1 have been successfully synthesized respectively by in-situ synthesis and post-modification methods 1. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observations show that the average diameters of the prepared fibrous dPA-DFNS-NH2 is 42 nm. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms analysis on the DPA-DFNS-NH2 show sharp peaks in the 15-22 nm range. After the -SH functional groups transformed to DFNS-NH2, the adsorption behavior of the dPA-DFNS-NH2 for Pb2+ was investigated 2. The results show that the prepared dPA-DFNS-NH2 can selectively adsorb Pb2+ in different potentials by some of electrochemical techniques. Finally, application of engineered adsorbent for the removal of Pb2+ from local natural ground water samples was examined. This work provides the methods to prepare dPA functionalized DFNS-NH2 with high specific surface area and total pore volume, which has the potential to be applied as an efficient adsorbent for specific metal ions.
