Abstract:
Community detection algorithms are applied in social, biological, business, and other kinds of networks, in order to finding well-defined community structures. The community structure is usually considered as the division of networks into subsets of vertices within which intra-connections are dense while between which inter-connections are sparse [1]. In biological networks, densely connected subgraphs are complex proteins, functional modules or pathways that are usually responsible for a common phenotype and are useful in providing insights pertaining to biological functionality [2].
