Abstract:

Bipolar disorder is a mental illness marked by extreme shifts in mood. symptoms can include an extremely elevated mood called mania, they can also include episodes of very low moods which is called depression episodes [1] Bipolar disorder is very serious and can cause risky behaviour or even suicidal tendencies.it has different kinds including : BD I, BD II and cyclothymic disorder . Bipolar disorder can be treated with therapy and medication .however, molecular mechanisms of neurobiology bipolar has not yet been understood.[2] Recent studies have shown that genetic factors such as longnon coding RNAs ( lncRNAs ) can have important roles in the pathogenesis of divers human disorders including neuropsychiatric disorders.[3]lncRNAs have been recently recognized as one of the important genetic factors and are considered as one of regulatory mechanisms of nervous system.[4] We chose Tug1 (Taurine unregulated gene 1) which is a lncRNA expressed in the retina and in the brain . This lncRNA locus is located on chromosome 11 and has three annotated transcripts .Tug1 has also roles in the development of photoreceptors and in regulating gene expression in nucleus by associating with the polycomb repressive complex 2(PRC2) This lncRNA can be associated with mental disorders such as bipolar and major depressive disorder(MDD).
