Abstract:

Senior managers cannot ignore the key role of information technology (IT) in the development of automotive companies. The strategic alignment of IT with business should be a primary goal of corporate governance. So, the maturity of applying IT effectively and adapting business strategies to IT strategies is important for organizations. Awareness of the level of IT maturity depends on the identification and assessment of the factors that affect this maturity in companies. To evaluate the factors affecting IT maturity, managers need a systematic mechanism to identify the process area, the processes of each area, and the maturity criteria, and compare these criteria to determine the ones that are most effective for IT maturity. This paper aims to propose a methodological and integrated framework, based on the Fuzzy Decision Tree (ID3) method, for assessing and ranking the criteria that are effective for an organization’s IT maturity. To demonstrate the framework’s capabilities, it was applied to assess IT maturity in Iran Khodro Diesel Co. (IKDCO), an Iranian automobile company. The results showed that the area, “IT service strategies”, is the most effective one, and the criteria, “measurable objectives”, “balanced and standard criteria of IT and business”, and “alignment of IT organizational structure with organization” are most effective on IT maturity in this company. Finally, to validate the proposed method, its results were compared with the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm.
