Abstract:

The extraction of solid-liquid is one of the oldest methods of preparing plant extracts and can be dividedinto two classes of old and new ways. This paper is a mini-review of novel and green plant extraction methodsincluding ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), supercritical fluidextraction (SFE), and accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) and the most recent developments in these researchareas. These methods have advantages such as short extraction time, low solvent consumption, more efficiency,and low negative environmental impact compared with traditional extraction methods. Also, in this paper, theconcept of green chemistry, processes that decrease the energy requirement and pollution and use eco-friendlysolvents and ensure the quality and safety of products, and its major principles will be explained. All methodswill be discussed by considering these principles and in terms of extraction systems and their mechanisms andeconomical and environmental concerns.
