Abstract:
Background and Aim: The methylation of the MyoD۱ gene has been assessed in various cancers. The detection of breast cancer in younger patients is highly important and MyoD۱ methylation can use as a breast cancer prognostic factor.Methods: The expression of the MyoD۱ gene and the promoter methylation of the MyoD۱ gene were evaluated in tissue blocks of breast cancer using qRT_PCR and MS-PCR tests, respectively Results: Our results show that MyoD۱ gene promoter is in hypermethylated status in malignant patients compared to benign patients (P = ۰.۰۰۱). Also, there is a significant correlation between the increased expression of DNMT۱ and the hypermethylation of MyoD۱ gene promoter (P = ۰.۰۳۸).Conclusion: the results show decreased expression of MyoD۱ in malignant patients compared to benign patients (P = ۰.۰۴۲). Also, there is a significant relationship between the expression and hypermethylation of MyoD۱ gene promoter (P = ۰.۰۰۱).
