Abstract:

The type of cultural conflict is a challenge affecting the large proportion of Asian nations. It can, in reality, be the consequence of Western culture's integration into the national boundaries of a country and can originate both from globalization and from the use of English as a foreign means of communication. Iran is one of those Asian nations whose people are at risk of a rapidly evolving culture struggling to overtake Iran's new Western socio-cultural identity. In particular, instructors and learners of the English language are more at risk of falling into such a foreign identity as they often face Western culture immediately. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of their cultural identity of the length of experience of EFL teachers in language teaching and learning. The information was acquired using a questionnaire that was presented to ۱۳۰ Iranian EFL teachers and learners with different exposure time. The findings manifested strong inclination of teachers and learners with more exposure towards the norms and cultural identity of English community. Finally, some recommendations are given for further study.
