Abstract:

Everybody suffers from a kind of anxiety in his/her dally life. Many students have great anxiety toward learning specific academic courses such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, second language and so forth. Among different academic courses, learning the second language seems very problematic and stressful process, in which many language learners cannot overcome it. Language learners often enter the language learning situation with great anxiety of being judged based on their inability to perform English well, especially in terms of speaking in front of a lot of students in the class. Such learners often feel embarrassed and ashamed due to the probable negative judgments from the other students and language teachers. Unfortunately, many language teachers do not know the most effective strategies to help the students to deal with the problem. In addition, due to the immediate corrective feedback, they significantly increase the negative stress and anxiety in the language learners. Therefore, the present article is an elaboration on the anxiety in second language learning process and the suggested effective strategies to cope with it.
