Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate therelationship of psychologists’ burnout and their copingstyles/interpersonal conflicts. The population of the study includedlicensed psychologists who were actively doing counseling inpsychological centers. ۱۱۸ psychologists were selected throughconvenience sampling. Maslach questionnaire, Coping Inventory forStressful Situations, and Interpersonal Conflict Questionnaire wereused for data collection. Pearson correlation coefficient andmultivariate regression were carried out to study the associatedrelationships. SPSS software, version ۲۱, was used for data analyses.There was a positive and significant relationship betweenpsychologists’ burnout and interpersonal conflicts/coping styles,except for task-oriented coping style. Moreover, there was a positiveand significant relationship between interpersonal conflicts with thethree dimensions of psychologists’ burnout. In addition, there was apositive and significant relationship between the dimensions of stresscoping style and avoidance with the three dimensions of burnout ofpsychologists. The present findings demonstrated the need onreducing the interpersonal conflicts. Furthermore, counselors andpsychologists are advised to learn and apply effective coping stylesto treat and prevent burnouts.
