Abstract:
This paper investigates the construction of tunnels for urban equipment and infrastructure along with existing tunnels in cities. For this purpose, a basic two-dimensional model using finite elements (FE) is modeled for a tunnel with a diameter of ۵ meters and a second tunnel with different dimensions. Then, the effect of the distance of the second tunnel, which includes ۶, ۷, ۹ and ۱۱ meters (center by center), and the effect of the diameter of the second tunnel, which includes ۳, ۴ and ۵ meters, are investigated. To evaluate the results, the horizontal, vertical and total displacement of the main tunnel after digging the second tunnel has been investigated. The results show that with increasing the diameter of the second tunnel from ۳ to ۵, the horizontal, vertical and total displacement changes of the second tunnel increase. Also, reducing the distance of the second tunnel from ۱۱ to ۶ meters will increase the deformation of the tunnel in different directions. Finally, the results show that the relative position and diameter of the second tunnel can have impact on the deformation of first tunnel.
