Abstract:

The modular multilevel converter has been proposed for many applications such as railway power conditioner for high-speed railway traction system, power electronic traction transformer, battery electric vehicles, etc. This paper presents a detailed performance on implemention of MMC with phase-shift pulse width modulation (PSPWM). Also, several control abjectives such as circulating current, output current, submodule capacitor voltage have been studies. Then, The influence of each control objective on the voltage ripple of the SM capacitor and impact of each controller on voltages and currents total harmonic distortion have been investigated. Finally, simulation results for a three-phase, five and nine-level inverter system represented with MATLAB/Simulink software to show the validity of the theoretical considerations
