Abstract:

Due to considerable urban expansion of Tehran in recent decades and increasing living costs, suburban cities have grown. Hence, reducing petrol usage and traffic, and developing the social justice are demanding the public transportation more than ever before. In this paper more than ۲۰۰۰ surveys answered by the passengers, are analyzed in two modes of railway and roadway consisting of bus and taxi. The contributive factors and their influence in the choices of thepassengers are evaluated by the SPSS software and statistical methods of T-Test and ANOVA. As the results demonstrate, main proportion of the passengers were not only employees in public sector, but also the age range and the income of them located in the mean of the society. Therefore, the system has a high potential in price and number of tickets. In addition, the rate of car possession and the petrol price have strong effect on the commuter transportation. Having more integrity among the modes and more accessibility to the stations, the demand will be increased. In the social justice part, allocating budgets from petrol price increasing and investing on the commuter train transportation in order to raise the socio-economic benefits is suggested. Overall, number of the questionnaires studied in this paper is ۱۹۶۳, in all transportation modes used by passengers including commuter trains, bus and taxi
