Abstract:

An analysis on free vibration of composite conical panel reinforced with a low amount of graphene platelets is performed in the current investigation. The effective Young’s modulus of the nanocomposites is determined by modified Halpin-Tsai micromechanics model. By means of the first order shear deformation shell theory (FSDT), Donnell’s theory and Hamilton’s principle based Ritz method with the shape functions stemming from the Gram-Schmidt process, the governing equations for the free vibration of conical panel are established. The feasibility of the proposed method is first verified trough many comparative evaluations of our results against the available literature. Numerical examples are given to study the effects of boundary conditions, weight fraction of graphene platelets and distribution pattern of graphene platelets. The results implied that GPLs with a low content can have an excellent influence on the natural frequencies of the conical panel
