Abstract:

In this paper the selection of optimal machining parameters (i.e., Voltage, Peak current, Pulse on time and Pulse off time) of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) operations was investigated in order to minimize the electrode wear ratio. Effects of selected parameters on process variable, electrode wear ratio was investigated by developing the mathematical model using response surface method (RSM). Optimal combination of these parameters was obtained for achieving controlled machining of the work-pieces. The accuracy of prediction model was analyzed by statistical methods; absolute fraction of variance, root mean square and mean absolute percentage error.
