Abstract:

Slope falss are highly probable natural disasters of mountain roads during cold seasons. The risk of landslides and avalanches is quite high in mountain roads with higher risk of the latter one in winter. This natural phenomenon is also a usual reason of road closures in Iran especially in roads between Tehran and northern cities. Avalanche probability of a road is usually evaluated by data gathering, field inspections, and aerial photographs. In this way, regional information, slope stability, geological data, avalanche frequency, and traffic volume are of important information which are required. Next, the road sections could be ranked considering risk of avalanche. ۱۲ avalanche-prone points are identified in Karaj-Chalus road and are prioritized using method of MCDM. In order to do this, first, effective parameters are determined such as snow depth, side slope, vegetation, and annual traffic. Next, the identified points are prioritized using MCDM method. The results show that points of ۶۳+۰۰۰, ۶۸+۰۰۰, ۶۱+۵۰۰, ۶۲+۰۰۰, and ۶۳+۰۰۰ are the most risky ones and safety solutions should be considered in these points.
