Abstract:

Effectiveness of finite element analysis of wide and conventional beam-column joints with VecTor۲ program was investigated to find accurate capturing the nonlinear cyclic response of them. In modeling procedures, default constitutive models were used in most of the cases to evaluate VecTor۲ program for simple modeling. Four joints with discontinuous column and a wide beam-column joint with continuous column were modeled numerically. These specimens had various conditions and all of them had transverse beams. Numerical modeling was verified by experimental results. Although VecTor۲ is a two dimensional nonlinear finite element software, but results showed that the seismic behavior of exterior and interior wide beam-column joints with continuous or discontinuous column can be achieved from VecTor۲ program accurately.
