Abstract:

Recently, the participatory act of citizens has become a tool to increase human intervention for placemaking. One example of an intervening role that citizens have in urban spaces is the informal job, which are considered temporary activities. In the context of the Tactical Urbanism approach, which considers the city as a platform for short-term activities, it seems that the design of mobile units suitable for these services can provide a platform for hawkers. In the past, their role could be perceived as a modern way of delivering the services needed by citizens while at the same time presenting a more integrated view of the urban identity. In this regard, through research methods such as research in design, secondary data analysis, expert interviews, and field observation we study the role of Tactical Urbanism in relation to street vending. In light of this issue, the purpose of this article is to present an optimal, yet independent, mobile unit that is capable of organizing the formal and functional work of informal workspaces. Simply said, this model seeks to contribute to socio-economic development in the framework of Tactical Urbanism.
