Simulation of Asphaltene Deposition Using CMG (WinProp)

In this project, an attempt has been made to simulate asphaltene deposition with the help of CMG software. Fluid analysis and asphaltene precipitation data are taken from Burke, Hobbs and Kashou, “Measurement and Modeling of Asphaltene Precipitation,” Journal of Petroleum Technology, November ۱۹۹۰, pp. ۱۴۴۰-۱۴۴۶.Due to the many problems caused by the formation of asphaltene deposition in the formation, the issue of studying asphaltene deposition has become particularly important. Among the problems caused by its formation can be mentioned plugging of the formation, wellbore, or production facilities, which will significantly affect the productivity and recovery of well. The first part of this project includes a comprehensive literature review of asphaltene deposition that include definition of asphaltene, structure and asphaltene model. The second chapter involves modeling asphaltene deposition by using WinProp (a phase behavior utility from CMG).
