Abstract:

Nano oxygen carrier CuxMn۱-xFe۲O۴ with (x=۰.۱-۰.۹) is synthesized by the coprecipitationmethod to be applied in the CL-SMR. The response surfacemethodology based is employed to evaluate the effects of independent variablesand their interactions on the oxygen carrier activity. The effects of reactiontemperature (۵۰۰-۷۵۰ ºC), OC loading (۰.۱-۰.۹ wt. %), S/C (۱.۵-۴), and redoxcycles (۱۰-۳۰) on the hydrogen production yield, methane conversion, andCO/CO۲ molar ratio were determined. According to the ANOVA, results indicatethat the reaction temperature and the OC loading percentage have drasticallysignificant effects on methane conversion and hydrogen production yield. TheNano OCs samples are characterized by applying FT-IR and XRD. Themaximum CH۴ conversion of ۹۸.۷%, H۲ production yield of ۸۱.۰۲%, andCO/CO۲ molar ratio of ۶.۵۴ were obtained at optimal conditions; reactiontemperature, ۶۵۰°C, self-supported oxygen carrier Cu۰.۶Mn۰.۴Fe۲O۴, S/C, ۲.۵ andredox cycle, ۳۰.
