Abstract:

Cavitation is investigated in a real size diesel injector nozzle. Schnerr and Sauer cavitation model is utilized to investigate cavitation phenomena. Then the primary results were validated with previous experiments done by Winklhofer and it was found that K-ε scheme has a better agreement with the mentioned experimental data. The effect of pressure difference and needle height were investigated on formation of vapor volume fraction has been investigated. It was found that at the same inlet pressure and needle height, decreasing outlet pressure, would increase length of cavitation. Moreover, it was found that at the same inlet and outlet pressures, any decrease in the value of needle height will decrease length of cavitation area.
