Abstract:
Language anxiety is a feeling of embarrassment, leading to the great fear of language learners to make mistakes and feel nervous in speaking settings. Anxiety and panic are connected series of mind and body reactions, experienced by the language learners, especially when they speak in front of the class. Feeling of anxiety would create some negative effects such as discouragement to speak and lack of enough confidence in speaking skill. In this article, we tried to describe the levels of language anxiety, the sources of language anxiety, and the strategies to cope with language anxiety in speaking skill. An important question arises here is the essence of improving speaking skill in the process of language learning. There may be many answers such as gaining job, travelling abroad, studying abroad, working abroad, and so forth. But in practice, improving speaking skill can be rather difficult due to the many intervening factors.
