Abstract:

Overflows are a type of hydraulic structure that is used to divert excess water in municipal wastewater collection systems as well as in irrigation and drainage networks as a water level regulator. Numerical simulation of flow pattern in overflows, due to lower cost and greater ease than laboratory modeling, will help to better understand the hydraulic flow in this type of structures. In this article, in order to numerically solve the flow pattern, we have used FLUENT software, which is based on the finite volume method. We also chose k-ε as the turbulence model. The results of the analysis are presented in the form of flow pattern, distribution of velocity contours in the X, Y and ... directions.
