خلاصه مقاله:
This study has been conducted with the aim of investigating the degree to which domestication and foreignization were used by ۲۰ English translation students in translating English Phrasal verbs into Persian. It was attempted to serve the purpose by the application of several underlying strategies proposed by Pederson (۲۰۰۵), namely Retention, Specification, Direct Translation, Generalization, Substitution, and Omission. Pederson identifies Retention, Specification, and Direct Translation as SL-oriented strategies and Generalization, Substitution, and Omission as TL-oriented strategies. Hence, the researchers tried to find out that English translation students tended to either domesticate news headlines or foreignize them. To this end, students were asked to translate news pieces from English articles which contained Covid-۱۹ news. Moreover, news items containing phrasal verbs were analyzed, and then Persian translations were compared and contrasted. On the final stage, the translation strategies used by the students were analyzed and the frequency of each strategy was calculated.
