Abstract:
This study intended to find the presence of a relationship between contrastive lexical competence (CLC) and language learning strategy (LLS) among Iranian advanced EFL learners. To this end, ۵۲ learners at the intermediate level were participants based on Oxford’s (۱۹۹۰) model of LLS. At the end of the study proficiency of English learners was analyzed and also the frequencies and percentage of some elements in CLC were calculated using standard multiple regression test and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient test, ensuring the internal consistency of both scales. The result revealed that language learning strategy does not affect lexical competency. It was also found that in language learning trainers have a tendency to employ the best strategies to enhance the process of learning a second language fluently. The finding of this study could be a path to guide language learners and even language trainers to acquire other languages .
