Abstract:

Alginate is a general term for natural polysaccharides extracted from some brown algae. This polysaccharide is present in the gel as a base material. Commercially, the most important properties of alginate are the ability to gel and create viscous solutions. The usual use of alginate as an additive in pharmaceutical products generally depends on the formation of the gel and its stability properties. The many benefits of this material, such as the biocompatibility and biodegradability of alginate, have become a platform for upgrading modern nanodrug delivery systems in recent decades. High alginate makes an important contribution to the development of polymer delivery systems. The purpose of this paper is the applications of alginate in pharmaceutical nanobiotechnology.method; In the present study, relevant information was searched from Pub med, Scopus, Google Scholer and Magiran databases. Data analysis was performed qualitatively. Results; Alginate is a biological substance made from seaweed. Due to its special properties such as mucosal-adhesive, biocompatibility and biodegradability, non-cell toxicity, etc., this material can be used in various applications, including modern systems for the promotion of vaccines and drugs. The production of this product does not require a complex process and is cost-effective for countries with maritime borders, including Iran. Therefore, recognizing this substance and recognizing its different applications can lead to the production of this substance in the country and different uses of this substance. Conclusion; Bacterial-origin alginate has very weak gel-forming properties due to its manuric acid-rich building units, and in addition, the production of alginate from bacteria is not cost-effective for commercial use, so alginates in seaweed are often used for mass production.
