Abstract:

Flexible automated negotiation, specially in open and dynamic environments can bring many benefits such as increasing likelihood of agreement, better agreements, more agreements, increasing the expected payoffs and promoting agent'sproperties. For developing flexible negotiation systems, first we should define and formalize flexibility. A precise and clear definition of a flexible negotiation system and a formulation of flexibility in agent-based negotiations has not reported explicitly in the literature. In this paper, first we discuss the benefits of flexible negotiation and then we provide a set of requirements for flexible negotiation in agent-based systems. The main contribution of this paper is an explicit formulation of flexibility in negotiation systems and showing that negotiation systems that are designed and implemented based on argumentation approach are flexible.
