Abstract:

Water pollution, due to increased agricultural and industrial activities, has badly affected the quality of life and eco-system in the past few decades. The effective removal of various toxic pollutants from the industrial wastewater remains a big challenge to date. The major toxic inorganic pollutants include metal ions, where as dyes, phenols and polychlorinated biphenyls are some of the organic pollutants present in water and wastewater. Nowadays, an advanced technique by photocatalytic degradation attracts the attention of most researchers due to its interesting and promising mechanism that allows spontaneous and non-spontaneous reactions as they utilized light energy to initiate the reaction. However, only a few numbers of photocatalysts reported were able to completely degrade organic pollutants. In the past decade, the number of preparation techniques of photocatalyst such as doping, morphology manipulation, metal loading, and coupling hetero junction were studied and tested. In this paper preparation techniques of Photocatalyst, degradation of Various Source of Pollutants and effect of Parameters on the Efficiency of Photocatalytic Degradation Process were discussed
