Trichomoniasis is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by a protozoan parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis. This infection may lead to vaginitis, painful urination, genital irritation, discomfort after intercourse, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, low birth weight, and increased risk of HIV infection and uterus cancer. The mainstay medication for trichomoniasis is metronidazole, but some resistant strains to this treatment and side effects have been identified. Thus efforts to identify new alternative drugs in order to control trichomoniasis are vital. The aim of this review article was to be collect comprehensive information about the medicinal plants that wre effective on this parasite. For this purpose, based on the systematic review studies, all studied documents including journal published articles, congress articles, theses, and conducted research projects in Iran were collected from the trusty databases such as Scopus, Science Direct, PubMed, Google Scholar, SID, Iran Doc, and Magiran by using specific key words such as; T. vaginalis, medicinal plants, phytochemical compounds, extract, essential oil, and Iran. Afterward, the unrelated documents were removed, whereas the respective ones were selected and the required information was extracted from them. The most effective medicinal herbs were based on time and concentration including: methanolic extracts of Myrtus communis , Zataria multiflora Boiss ,Artemisia aucheri Boiss, Allium sativum, Freula assafoetida extracts, Lavandula angustifolia oil, Rheum ribes, Pelargonium roseum, Eucalyptus, Foeniculum vulgare, Chenopodium album, Salvia officinalis, Viola Odorata, Physalis alkekengi, Menthe piperita, Achillea millefolium, Artemisia absinthium and Juglans regia leaves extracts
