Abstract:
Due to the importance of environmental issues, all countries try to achieve their economic goals and minimize environmental damage by proper planning and appropriate methods. Among these, many factors affect the degradation of the environment and its quality. In this study, our goal is to investigate the impact of good governance indicators on environmental quality in a selection of developing countries. Using the data panel model during the period ۲۰۰۰-۲۰۱۰, the effect of good governance on the quality of the environment in developing countries was investigated using a selection of related variables. The results showed that the average of good governance indices directly affects environmental quality in selected developing countries. In other words, improving the governance indicators has led to reducing degradation and improving the environment's quality. Real GDP per capita and trade also have a direct and significant impact; on the other hand, energy consumption per capita and foreign direct investment inflow negatively impact the environment's quality, not statistically significant. Therefore, developing countries can improve their governance and indicators by improving governance and improving its quality.
