Abstract:

Energy and the environment Nexus is a way to bridge the gap between energy demand of a growing population and reducing environmental pollution. Replacement of renewable energies especially through biodegradable wastes is recognized as key solution. In this research, bioethanol production capacity from rice, wheat and barley residues in Qaemshahr County, and the carbon emissions reduction were studied. The results show that during the last ۵ years, a total of ۶۰۶۶۳/۲۹ tones residues have been produced, which has bioethanol production capacity equivalent to ۲۴/۲۸ million liters. Annual bioethanol generation potential using rice, wheat and barley residues is equal to ۴۶۹۲۰۶۰, ۳۸۶۷۰۶/۲۴ and ۲۱۰۳۵/۷ liters, respectively. This can prevent carbon emissions by ۴۹۹۷۸۰۵/۹۰ Kg CO۲.year
