Abstract:

A simple and rapid method for the preparation of Quinazolinone derivatives is presented, involving one-pot three-component reaction of dimedone, urea and various aryl aldehydes with nano-Fe۳O۴@chitosan as an effective heterogeneous solid acid catalyst under reflux conditions. The catalyst is characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), magnetic susceptibility measurements, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Some of the most important advantages of this method are high catalytic activity, low catalyst loading, atom economy, excellent yields in short reaction times and a wide range of products
