DISTRIBUTION OF SEISMIC ENERGY IN IRAN

A review of the seismis history of Iran shows that thiS country is located in a high active zone Most of seismic activity originates along the active faults , but there is some complexity in distribution of seismic activity in the whole country . This stydy encompasses the seismicity of Iran based on energy and strain release . The seismic energy and associated strain release of earthquakes in different parts of Iran during five - year periods from ۱۹۷۰ to ۱۹۹۹, by two methods that have been used in construction of seismicity maps are computed and combined.The results are presented and compared with previous works of
