Abstract:

In the current study, the effect of magnetic field (MF) on the corrosion rate of N-۸۰ carbon steel in ۱.۵M (۵wt.%) HCl was investigated at various conditions using weight loss (WL) measurements and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP). The surface morphology of the CS was examined by SEM both in normal and magnetized HCl. The effects of MF intensity, magnetization time, elapsed time, and temperature on changes in corrosion rate were examined. The experimental results show that magnetization of acid sharply declines the corrosion rate of N-۸۰ CS in HCl up to ۹۶%.
