Abstract:

In this paper, a techno-economic study for combined photovoltaic and battery storage system will be conducted. Increase in capacity of renewable energies in recent years specifically photovoltaic power plants, has highlighted the need to electricity storage systems for proper response to electricity nightly demand. On the other hand, via incentives and investments, the technology of electricity storage systems, such as lithium-ion batteries, has been improved and its price has been decreased significantly in the recent years, and it is expected that in the coming years, its integrated use with renewable power plants to be both economically and technically justified. In Iran, despite of support from photovoltaic power plants in form of electricity Feed-in-Tariff (FiT), there is no credit for storage systems. In this study, at the first step, performanceof a ۱ MW photovoltaic power plant with and without battery storage system in Qom province are investigated. Then, by identification of the costs and economic parameters of these systems, for both options, the amount of supports in both forms of FiT and investment tax credit (ITC) are determined. With these incentives, levelised cost of electricity of combined PV and battery system will be decreased significantly.
