خلاصه مقاله:
The key point in the success of a tissue engineering technique is to mimic the structural and functional properties of a native tissue. Many researchers’ efforts are on design and synthesis of basements which chemically and topographically resemble the extracellular matrix (ECM), the basement membrane of cells in the biological environment of the body. Collagen is the most abundant protein component of ECM and also a type of polymer with natural sources that is widely utilized to fabricate scaffolds. In this study, following our previous work in synthesizing two different structured collagen-based scaffolds, the biocompatibility of the scaffolds were investigated through seeding of two cell lines directly on the surface of scaffolds. The SEM micrographs confirmed the positive effects of the scaffold on cells outgrowth. Also the positive effect of fiber orientation on cell outgrowth organization was traced through SEM images. The cells’ attachment affinity was discussed in attachment assay results, the rate of cell proliferation was assessed using a quantitative method and was compared with the control samples. As an overall conclusion, it seems that the process of engineering the tissues via submicron/nano fibrous biopolymer scaffolds is a promising and flourishing method
