Abstract:
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is one of the promising nanoparticles using in many applications. However, its hydrophilic and inorganic nature restricts its usage in hydrophobic polymer matrices or organic phases. The modification of nanoparticles is commonly used to solve this problem. In this study, TiO2 nanoparticles were modified with oleic and stearic acids separately. Chemical reactions between TiO2 nanoparticles and modifiers were examined employing Fourier transform infrared and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance. Dispersion ability tests were also carried out in toluene (as non-polar solvent) and deionized water (as polar solvent). Furthermore, UV-vis spectra were obtained to investigate the stability of dispersionswith time
