Magnetic modified chitosan, MCS-IHPMB, was synthesized and applied in aqueous solution to remove Hg(II) ion. MCS-IHPMB structural characteristics were studied by spectroscopic analysis. In the process of metal ion uptake, various parameters include the initial value of metal ion, pH, time, and the adsorbent dose is influenced. These parameters were also studied. The adsorbent performance was in good agreement with the Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption capacity exhibited by the MCS-IHPMB towards Hg(II) was ۲۰۰.۱ mg g-۱. The adsorption/desorption experiments were also done, and the results showed that the MCS-IHPMB still had a good adsorption performance after five times reuse.
