Varicose veins are the most common human vascular disease. For the past two decades, intravenous destruction techniques, laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) are some of these intravenous techniques which have been used as an alternative to the surgical removal of saphenous varicose veins. This cross-sectional analytical study was performed on ۳۵ patients with venous insufficiency of the lower extremities who were referred to Razi Hospital Vascular Surgery Clinic, during the first ۶ months of ۲۰۱۹. Patients were treated with RF and UGFS which were performed by a vascular surgeon. A checklist with necessary information was prepared for patients individually. The sexual frequency of patients with ۲۵ cases (۷۱.۴%) was male and ۱۰ cases (۲۸.۶%) were female. Totally, ۲۵ cases (۷۱.۴%) were treated by sclerotherapy method and ۱۰ cases (۲۸.۶%) were treated by RF. The results of our study showed that there was no significant difference in D- dimer within ۲۴ hours before the surgery (P = ۰.۶۲۵) but the mean of D- dimer one week and two weeks after surgery showed a significant difference between the two groups (P<۰.۰۵).The results of our study showed that the level of D-dimer ۲۴ hours before the surgery was not significantly different between the two treatment methods, however, one and two weeks after the surgery, the level of D-dimer was significantly higher in patients receiving sclerotherapy and RF with no difference in the final side effects of the two treatment methods.
