Proposing a New Procedure for Protection Coordination Improvement of Diesel Generator in the Distribution Systems

Recently, modern distribution networks expose to many changed. Appearance of distributed generations (DGs), is one of biggest changes to these networks. These DGs have many advantages to distribution networks. But their participation in fault current, causes the overcurrent based protection system to failed. So the uncoordinated in the operation of distribution system is not inevitable. For solving of this phenomenon, many approaches are suggested in literature. The proposed approach in this paper is to optimize the place of DGs together with settings of protection system. The protection system in distribution network is mainly based on overcurrent fuse and reclosor. The case study is standard ۳۷ bus distribution system. The results of problem optimization with genetic algorithm show the satisfactory operation of protection relay in distribution network.
