خلاصه مقاله:
Schiff-base liga nds have been reported to show a variety of biological action by virtue of th e azomet hine linkage, which is responsible for various anti-bacterial, anti-fu ngal, anti- cancer, anti-viral, herb cal, cli nical and analytical ac tivities an d this activity tends to increase in metal(II) Schiff-b ase complex [۱] . T he chemistry of Schiff-base liga nds and their metal complex has expand ed enormo usly and en compasses a vast area of organ ometallic c ompounds and various aspect of bioinorg anic chemis try [۲]. The chemistry of metal c omplexes containing Schiff bas e ligands derived fr om condensation of aldehydes a nd amines is of enduring signifi cance, sinc e they have common features with metalloprophyrine s with respe ct to their electronic structure an d catalytic activities that mimic enzymatic oxidation [۳].Artu ro Silvestre et all , reported on the interaction of calf thymus D NA with F e(III) Salen, that results obtain ed have been interpre ted in terms of an electrostatic binding of [Fe(salen)]+ cation and the phosphate gro up of DNA [۳]. Design and synthe sis of small synthetic systems that recognize specific sites of DN A is an im portant area of much current res earch these could be at least in part due to the form ation of n one covale ntly associated complexes by several suc h molecules with nu cleic acids.
