Abstract:

The paper proposes an analysis on loss minimum condition in distribution systems with simultaneous presence of distributed generation (DG) and unified power flow controller (UPFC). The injection model for modelling of UPFC and DG has been used. To reach this condition by presence of these two elements, the injected current by UPFC and DG has been studied and the outputs of these two elements have been calculated. Loop and radial distribution systems (RDS) have been investigated and studied. Analytical calculations have been extended and developed for complex loop distribution networks also. For comparing of achieved results sample system under three states have been validated as: 1) system without UPFC and DG, 2) system with DG, and 3) system with UPFC and DG. Simulation results are communicative that using UPFC can provide two advantages in the system would entail: 1) possibility of more loss reduction, 2) DG capacity reduction.
